Dear golfers from around the world,
This tournament represents an important development in the game of golf. Amateur golfers of all skill levels now have the opportunity to compete against one another in a world-wide championship event while developing life-long friendships and business relationships. Over the years, i have had the great honor being the Chairman of this worldwide prestigious tournament, founded by the legendary Swedisch sport Icon and my longtime friend and idol Mr. Sven Tumba, a swedish sport icon in ice-hockey, football, waterskiing as well as in golf, of course.
Today, thanks to World Amateur Golfers Championship, the opportunity ia available to almost any amateur golfer, regardless of skill level.
It is a great honor to be in this position as golf ambassadors of all participating countries and my sincere wish is that everyone will bring home positive memories and continue to support this prestigious event. On behalf of the whole organisation i welcome everyone and wish you the best of luck. Remember the wisdom word from Mr. Arnold Palmer “golf is a sport that no one can ever beat” but let’s stive do our best within the skill level of each player.

On behalf of World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC), we are delighted to have your presence here for the 30th iteration of this prestigious amateur tournament. I have had the great privilege and honour to be appointed as President of World Amateur Golfers Championship & World Amateur Golfers Invitational’s worldwide tournaments. This is not an easy task but one of utter importance and requires a global outlook. It is my desire and goal to ensure that the WAGC retains its premier position in the global golfing calendar and I undertake this responsibility with great humility and more importantly, dedication and focus. The founder of the World Amateur Golfers Championship, the late Sven Tumba, was a visionary ahead of his time. Tumba recognized the event’s potential as a platform to bring together amateur golfers from around the globe to explore new and exotic golfing destinations. The World Final is staged at renowned five-star resorts and played at some of the best golfing facilities in the host nation, promising great fun aswell as an unforgettable experience for the participants. I hope that you have an enjoyable week in Johor and pleasant golfing.

Sven Tumba (born as Sven Olof Gunnar Johansson: 27 August 1931 – 1 October 2011) was one of the most prominent Swedish ice hockey players of the 1950s and 1960s. He also represented Sweden in football as well as golf.
Johansson first became known as “Tumba” in the 1950s since there were other players with the same last name, and he grew up in the Swedish town of Tumba. In October 1960 he married his wife Mona and five years later he, along with Mona, legally changed his family name to Tumba. After his retirement from hockey, he became an accomplished golfer, a golf course designer as well as an ambassador to the game of golf, even officially introducing the game of golf to the former Soviet Union.
He died on 1 October 2011 after being on the Danderyds sjukhus hospital for three months due to an infection in the hip.
It remains our privilege and honour as golfers, to keep Sven’s spirit alive through the World Amateur Golfers Championship.
Johan Tumba, son of the event’s founder Sven Tumba, represents the Tumba family in the WAGC in an executive capacity. A former professional golfer on the European Tour, he is now involved in golf promotion, development, and charitable work. He assumed the position of WAGC Vice President in June 2024.
Dear Golf friends from around the world,
I was delighted when I was asked to become the new Patron of World Amateur Golfers Championship after the legendary Mr. Arnold Palmer.
Having followed the development of this tournament for many years, founded and created by my dear friend and in many respect early mentor Mr. Sven Tumba, I did not need to think about it for long but took it on as an honor to the two great Sport Icons.
This tournament is built on Sven’s dream to give something back to all amateurs that have contributed and supported us professional golfers for decades. To come to a world final and represent your country and compete against other amateurs from all over the world and within the same skill level is a unique feeling that must be experienced to understand what it’s all about.
The tournament motto that “sport promote friendship and business” is, in a friendly but still competitive “professional like” tournament, a great idea that I encourage everybody to follow.
I wish everybody a great time in Malaysia with their excellent golf courses, fantastic hotels and nice warm climate.

De World Amateur Golfers Championship organiseert elk jaar een prestigieus golftoernooi dat speciaal is ontworpen voor de amateurgolfer. Het doel van dit toernooi is om de deelnemers de kans te geven om te ervaren hoe het is om te spelen als een professional, met alle bijbehorende spanning en ambiance. Dit bijzondere evenement trekt jaarlijks meer dan veertig landen, wat getuigt van de world-wide populariteit en het enthousiasme voor de amateur golf sport.
Namens WM GOLF PROMOTION hebben wij (Menno, Winston en Ronald) de eer om uw WAGC / WAGI golfreis te initiëren en u daarin te begeleiden. Wij nodigen dan ook enthousiaste golfers van harte uit om zich bij ons als individu of als “business” koppel / team aan te sluiten zodat we samen deze unieke ervaring kunnen delen en van deze sport kunnen gaan genieten waar wij allen zoveel van houden.
